Thank you for your interest in the Hunter New England and Central Coast Primary Health Network’s (HNECC PHN or the PHN) Strategic Engagement Advisory Groups.

You may be aware that the PHN formerly had three Clinical Councils and three Community Advisory Committees. These were established when the PHN commenced operations in 2015.

The PHN also has a number of formalised reference groups and advisory structures, many of which have also been in place for some time.

With the evolution of the business, it was deemed timely by the Board to review the structures and processes across the groups to ensure a broad range of clinical, community and expert input.

As a result of this review, the Clinical Councils and Community Advisory Groups are ceasing in their current structure and the PHN is establishing two new Advisory Groups:

  • A Rural Strategic Engagement Advisory Group, and
  • An Urban/Inner Regional Strategic Engagement Advisory Group.

Purpose

The purpose of the PHN’s Strategic Engagement Advisory Groups is to provide insights, advice and guidance around the PHN’s strategic engagement; and specific areas and projects which align with the PHN’s purpose and strategic priorities, challenges and ambitions. Thus, ensuring effective strategic engagement and alignment. The composition of each group will consist of both primary healthcare professionals and community members. Each group will have two Co-Chairs, one being a primary care clinician, and one being a community member.

Who are we looking for?

We want our advisory groups to reflect the diversity of our PHN community and seek primary healthcare professionals and community members who:

  • Live, work and/or receive services in the Hunter, New England or Central Coast regions, and
  • Are involved with groups, agencies, other associations and committees related to primary healthcare

We strongly encourage expressions of interest from people who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander or have a culturally and linguistically diver background.

How to get involved?

If you’re interested, please select the appropriate Expression of Interest from the list below and submit your application by Friday 5 July.

Please read the HNECC PHN Strategic Engagement Advisory Groups Terms of Reference prior to expressing your interest (document available for download in the right-hand panel).

Footnote: PHN Rural and Urban/Inner Regional Footprint

When completing the EOI please refer to the PHN ‘rural’ and ‘urban/inner regional’ footprint for respective groups. The ‘urban/inner regional’ footprint includes the LGAs of Central Coast, Maitland, Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Cessnock and Port Stephens. The ‘rural’ is as per the PHN Rural Health Framework and are the other 17 LGAs in the HNECC PHN region.
