More than 2 in 3 adults in our communities are overweight or obese.
Obesity is fast becoming Australia’s biggest public health challenge.
We have to make changes, and we believe General Practice is the place to start.

It’s a ‘weighty’ conversation to have, but the rate of people in our community who are overweight or obese has reached a crisis point.

Hunter New England and Central Coast Primary Health Network is developing a model of care to enable people to reach a healthy weight and reduce their risk of chronic disease.

Research shows that there's not just one solution to tackling obesity and unhealthy weight. There are many causes of being overweight which means there also should be a range of solutions.

We will be working with a number of communities in our region to plan ways that will promote long-term change.

In addition to holding face-to-face community forums, we would love for you to share your ideas on this page as to what may help people in your community live a healthier lifestyle.
